LG.Philips announced that he had created a panel TFT-LCD by 15.4 inches for notebook systems and characterized by a high resistance to dirt and stains, which also allows for easy removal of dust, fingerprints and possibly even ink. Byung-Chul Ahn, project manager and head of the department of development of advanced technologies at LG.Philips, said: "Our panel is based on a principle similar to the one behind the production of common-stick pans. Debris and fat can be easily removed.

The reason LG.Philips has developed this particular panel is very simple: anyone with a laptop will be well aware of the annoying problem of fingerprints screen, which is normally more on notebooks because the screen is often touched and better placed to view its contents. The thin layer of fat present sull'epidermide settles on creating panels so well known and annoying halos.

LG.Philips said that the production volumes of such panels will begin during the first half of 2008. By the end of that year, moreover, the technology will be extended to other dimensions panels.
